The Standing Committee of the European Convention on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour at Sports Events and in particular at Football Matches (CETS n 120) held its first meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the preparation of UEFA EURO 2020.

The meeting was attended by 10 out of the 12 hosting countries, as well as UEFA, EUROPOL, INTERPOL and European supporters’ associations.

All participants agreed that the working group can play a unique role in ensuring coordination and cooperation, as well as on promoting synergies and avoid overlaps. In addition to the need to embed the standards of the new Convention on an Integrated safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events (CETS n 218) in all the phases of the preparation of the tournament, the working group decided to adopt a multi-annual action plan, focusing on a list of the core issues to be addressed.

The next meeting shall take place in May 2017, in Strasbourg.
