Retour Armenia promotes awareness of press freedom and journalists’ safety through outreach and engagement activities

Throughout 2025, Armenian authorities continued efforts to promote awareness of press freedom, journalists’ safety and the role of the media in democratic societies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia engaged actively with journalists through annual foreign policy training programmes, support for participation in international networking opportunities and regular exchanges on developments relating to foreign affairs and public policy. The Ministry also maintained regular dialogue with representatives of civil society organisations. These initiatives contributed to strengthening professional capacities, promoting access to information and supporting constructive engagement between public authorities, journalists and civil society.

Awareness-raising activities also targeted younger audiences. The Ministry continued organising educational visits for students ranging from school pupils to university students, introducing them to the Ministry’s work, including activities related to media relations and public communication.

In addition, World Press Freedom Day and the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists were marked through publications in Armenian media outlets highlighting the importance of journalists’ safety, press freedom and the protection of media professionals.
