The ICSJ successfully held the international conference Safeguarding Journalists: Mapping the Field, which brought together over 100 participants from Greece and abroad — journalists, media experts, academia, civil society actors, and security sector representatives.
A broad agenda addressed key threats to press freedom worldwide: physical safety, digital security, legal harassment, psychological resilience, and media ethics.
Panels and workshops explored practical strategies for journalist protection, mechanisms for supporting reporters in hostile environments, and institutional cooperation.
The conference underscored the necessity of treating journalist safety as a structural, systemic responsibility — not only occasional protection, but integrated into media policy and institutional frameworks.
