Voluntary contributions received for Start to Talk

Following on from the voluntary contribution received from Cyprus at the end of 2019 towards supporting the needs of the Start to Talk initiative, the Principality of Monaco last week signed an Agreement which covers the years 2020-2021 and foresees a voluntary contribution to support a number of Council of Europe actions, including the Start to Talk initiative.

Since the launch of Start to Talk in April 2018, approximately twenty countries have taken the commitment to launch national campaigns, develop training within sports organisations and enhance their policy and procedures. Six national campaigns have been launched so far, but more support is needed to activate and assist these countries when implementing their plans to prevent sexual abuse and harassment in sport.

This combined financial support of €60,000 from Cyprus and Monaco will allow the Council of Europe and its member states to move forward in their bid to help prevent and respond to child sexual abuse in sport
