The Group of Copenhagen gets mobilised to monitor the FIFA football World Cup

The 22 countries members of the network of the National Platforms have undertaken to work together to monitor for possible sport manipulations during the football World Cup in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.

The Group of Copenhagen, established by the Council of Europe in 2016, is composed of co-ordinators from the National Platforms which have been or are being officially established by public authorities in order to co-ordinate the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions at national level, as described in Articles 12 and 13 of the Macolin Convention. As part of its activities, the Group of Copenhagen (which exists primarily as a network for exchange of information, experience and expertise), pays special attention to the monitoring of international sport events. The ensuing task of the national platforms will be to deal with any positive detections/attempts in order to appropriately investigate and-if necessary-sanction.
