On 31 January 2019 the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ms Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni and Director General of Democracy Ms Snežana Markovic met in Sydney the representatives of Australian National Platform responsible for co-ordinating the fight against sports manipulations. Mr Carey Stent, Head of Determination and Mr. Damian Voltz, Senior Intelligence Analyst, from the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, presented to the Council of Europe an overview of Australian sport integrity issues, the risk and challenges that sports manipulations represent for Australia, as well as the effective responses provided by the National Platform.

Australia has developed a system giving extensive authority to its National Platform strengthening the fight against organized crime. The Australian National Platform addresses trans-border threats through, among other things, international cooperation with the Council of Europe. Australia is one of the 25 countries participating in the Network of the National Platforms set up by the Council of Europe, also known as “Copenhagen group”.
