Conference: tackling sexual violence in sport

In recent years, sport has been confronted, in many countries, with many cases of sexual violence against women and children, and its stakeholders are determined to do something about it. Fostering dialogue between public authorities, the sports movement and stakeholder organisations to tackle sexual violence against women and children in sport and to strengthen the prevention of this scourge and how it is handled, is the goal of the Expert Conference being organised by EPAS and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Finland in the context of the Finnish Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Some 80 participants are expected to attend, representing member states’ public authorities, NGOs, sports organisations, victim support organisations, child protection agencies and other partners of the Council of Europe.

The conference is open to the media. It will start at 12.00 p.m. on Monday 29 April 2019 at the National Museum of Finland (Mannerheimintie 34, Helsinki, Finland). The conference will also be streamed live on the internet in English.
