Second meeting on the Mapping of Sports Facilities

The Council of Europe's Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) and the Mulier Instituut are organising a series of three online meetings on the Mapping of Sports Facilities.

Each meeting revolves around a different topic and brings together experts in the field, including sports organisations, NGOs, academics and representatives of the European Union and the Council of Europe. These meetings aim to enhance the work of EPAS on the topics in question by gathering different ideas and points of view from the sports world and beyond.

The main takeaways and conclusions from the first meeting, on “Changing patterns in facility use during the COVID-19 pandemic”, which took place on 14 December 2021, can be found in the meeting report.

The second meeting, on the Mapping of Sports Facilities on Sustainability, was held on 5 July 2022. It focused on sustainability in a broad sense, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability in relation to sports facilities. Speakers included researchers, policy-making experts and other experts in this field as well as the wider sports movement (for more information, please consult the agenda of the meeting). A meeting report will be made available soon.

The third and final meeting will focus on “Financial investments (public and private)” – in relation to the mapping of sports facilities. A provisional date has been set for 13 December 2022 (tbc).
