On 18 November 2020, Ambassador Michele Giacomelli, Permanent Representative of Italy deposited the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Approach to Safety, Security and Services at Football Matches and Other Sports Events, also known as the Saint-Denis Convention, in the presence of Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Italy is the 18th State to ratify this Convention, which entered into force on 1 November 2017.

The Saint-Denis Convention shall enter into force in Italy on 1 January 2021.
