As of January 2019 ICEI – Istituto Cooperazione Economica Internazionale, has been appointed Coordinator of the Italian Network “Città del Dialogo” (Cities of Dialogue), belonging to the Intercultural Cities Programme (ICC) of the Council of Europe. The Italian Network currently includes 27 Municipalities, which recognise and promote the planning and management of city policies in a way that enhances the advantages, talents and opportunities offered by diversity (diversity advantage). The cities of the Network foster intercultural dialogue and inclusion, exchange of good practices and dissemination of the results of the policies implemented by cities, involving strategic actors in this field.
According to the approach promoted by the Council of Europe's ICC Programme, the main objectives of the Italian Network, which ICEI will strive to reach, include; i) the redinamisation of the Network - the biggest one in terms of membership within the ICC Programme; ii) the contribution to the implementation of policies and programmes promoting intercultural inclusion at urban level, to make sure that the resulting actions are fully integrated into municipal planning; iii) the use of the tools offered by the ICC Programme, adapted to the contexts of Italian cities thanks to the additional support of experts made available by the Programme; iv.) facilitating sharing of best practices among the members of the Italian network and the over 130 cities participating in the ICC Programme; v.) the promotion of up-to-date intercultural policies and actions by developing partnerships with local and national actors.
