Council of Europe takes part in INTERPOL’s Project Stadia experts meeting on crowd management

The Secretariat of the Saint-Denis Convention took part in the 5th meeting of security and security experts of major sporting events, under the aegis of Project Stadia (INTERPOL), in Doha, Qatar, from 28 to 30 October 2019, to discuss on crowd management in major international events.

The meeting brought together police experts and safety managers of sports venues from across Europe, the United States and Australia, which gave the opportunity for them to share their experiences on crowd management with their Qatari partners, in the run-up for the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022™.

The representative of the Council of Europe highlighted the need for an integrated crowd management strategy, focused on the balanced and interdependent contribution of the three pillars of the Saint-Denis Convention: Safety, Security and Service.

The purpose of these meetings is to collect and share, at a global level, the recommended good practices in managing the safety and security of major events.
