The EU Council has just published its Decision 2019/683 authorising Member States to become parties, in the interest of the European Union, to the Council of Europe Saint-Denis Convention (see here).

It is expected that, in the coming weeks and months, several EU Member States will be able to sign and/or ratify this Convention.

Currently, 31 States have signed this Convention, of which 8 have also ratified it. The new Committee on Safety and Security of Sports Events will start operating within one year after the tenth ratification.
