Peru deposited the instrument of ratification of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, after the Congress had approved the act of accession in January this year.
In 2016, the Council of Europe worked with the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide training on cybercrime and electronic evidence to prosecutors from across the country.
Now Peru becomes the 64th Party to the Budapest Convention. A further eight States have signed or been invited to accede and at least seventy countries have drawn on this treaty when developing domestic legislation on cybercrime.
