Working structures
The Monitoring Group of the Anti-Doping Convention
The body in charge of monitoring the implementation of the Anti-Doping Convention is the Monitoring Group. As part of its international co-operation on doping issues, its activities involve working with the World Anti-Doping Agency and the international sports federations.
Mission
Who makes up the Monitoring Group?
In order to deal with the issues relevant to its different areas of competence, the Monitoring Group has 4 specialised groups: |
|
These groups are not made up of nominated members. Participation in the meetings is open to all States parties wishing to take part. The Monitoring Group, however, elects the Chair of each group.
How does it work?
The Monitoring Group meets twice a year, generally at the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Decisions are taken by majority voting, each State party to the Convention having one vote. Each meeting is preceded by a Co-ordination Group meeting – made up of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Monitoring Group, the Chairs of the specialised groups and the Chair of the Ad Hoc European Committee for the World Anti-Doping Agency (CAHAMA).
