The Drafting Group on the use of new technologies by the ECtHR and new tendencies in litigation before the ECtHR (CDDH-TE) held its first meeting in Strasbourg from 11 to 13 May 2026 under the chairmanship of Milène Blanchard (France).
During the meeting, the Group elected Isabelle Niedlispacher (Belgium) as Vice-Chair and exchanged views on its terms of reference and future working methods.
The Group held discussions with a range of experts from academia, the legal profession, the European Court of Human Rights and other relevant bodies on its two main themes: the Court’s use of new technologies and emerging tendencies in litigation before the Court.
Participants examined possible issues to be addressed in its future work and reflected on the structure and scope of the Group’s future deliverables, which are due to be completed by the end of 2027.
The Group agreed that its next meeting in September 2026 would consider a draft text on the issue of the Court’s use of new technologies, to be prepared by the rapporteur on this issue, Isabelle Niedlispacher (Belgium).
