Retour CyberCrime@EAP III and iPROCEEDS: Preparatory meeting of the Cybercrime Exercise

Tbilisi, Georgia ,

The second preparatory expert meeting on the development of the Cybercrime Exercise started today in Tbilisi, Georgia. Council of Europe experts, staff members and representatives of the Georgian Data Exchange Agency are finilising the components of a simulation exercise that will cover solving cyber security incidents, cybecrime and financial investigations.

Coordination and partnership exercise aims to strengthen the understanding of the need to exchange information expeditiously, sometimes even in real time, in order to handle incidents and investigate cybecrime. The need of contact points to coordinate efforts should become as an accepted practice.

The goal is also to demonstrate the need for public-private partnerships in cybecrime, cyber security and financial investigations in order to get access to required data expeditiously, to have arrangements in place for, at the very least, exchange of contacts, and to encourage use of common approaches and methods for use of electronic evidence in cyber security incident, cybecrime and financial investigations.

The coordination and partnership exercise involving a wide array of stakeholders will be organised by the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe in cooperation with Data Exchange Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia on 24 – 28 April 2017 in Tbilis, Georgia. The exercise will gather prosecutors, cybercrime and financial investigators, representatives of Financial Intelligence Units, CERTs and the private sector from 13 countries from the South-eastern Europe, Turkey and Eastern Partnership region.
