National and international political priorities in the sports sector (2011)

    - Stimulate to increased sport activity at all levels. Primary target groups are children and youth. Funding directed at promoting activities within and outside membership based local sports clubs, and sports facilities.
    - Promote social inclusion in sport through special focus on under-privileged groups (girls/women, ethnic minorities, disabled, etc.)
    - Promote an ethical based and professionally competent top level sport environment
    - Anti-doping

Organisation of sport in the country (2011)
The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) is an umbrella organisation which organises all national sports federations in Norway. NIF has approx 2.1 million memberships and consists of 54 national federations, 19 regional confederations, approx. 366 sports councils and 11 793 clubs. The General Assembly of NIF is the supreme governing body of organised sport, and is held every fourth year (Source: www.idrett.no ).
