Organisation of sport in the country (2012) The state regulation in the field of physical culture and sports is carried out by the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Government of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, the local councils of deputies, executive and administrative institutions and other state institutions within the scope of their authority according to the legislation. Results of the last Olympic Games

World champion in 2011 (including non Olympic sport):
World champions in Olympic disciplines: Aleskei Shemarov (freestyle wrestling), Alim Selimov (Greeko-Roman wrestling), Aleksandra Gerasimenya (swimming), Anastasiya Novikova (weightlifting). In 2012 winter World Championships a gold medallist in Olympic disciplines became Darya Domracheva (biathlon). Belarus is the 13th by gold ranking in winter Olympic disciplines in 2012. |
