It is with deep sadness that the Council of Europe’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) marks the untimely passing of Mathilde Grenet, a committed and visionary Safe Sport specialist, whose life’s work has had – and will continue to have – a lasting impact on safeguarding in sport. 

Mathilde Grenet was the founder of the safeguarding consultancy EN GARDE, an organisation devoted to eradicating interpersonal violence in sport. Her expertise, guidance and unwavering dedication to the cause shaped safeguarding policies and programmes for an array of international and national sports governing bodies. 

The EPAS Secretariat extends its heartfelt condolences to Mathilde's family, friends, colleagues, and all those in the Safe Sport community who mourn her loss. Her resilience, commitment and advocacy have been instrumental in moving the fight for safe and inclusive sport forward, and her legacy will continue to inspire current and future generations. Mathilde Grenet will be deeply missed, but her vision for a world of safe sport lives on in the work she has made possible.
