The Group of Copenhagen participated in the International Conference on Reviewing Practices to Address the Risks of Online Gambling and Video Gaming for Children and Youth, which took place in Malta, on 22 and 23 September 2026, to present the latest developments of its “Stop Betting Addiction” Working Group.

The main objective of the Group's participation was to put forward a tool designed by the Council of Europe International Cooperation Group on Drugs and Addiction, also known as Pompidou Group, to collect and analyse information on the frequency of sports betting in athletes' lives, improving understanding of how such behaviour may be associated with match-fixing.

Rute Soares, Vice-Chair of the Group of Copenhagen, delivered the ongoing study to international experts, specialists and researchers in line with the objectives of the Macolin Convention, the international legal instrument dedicated to preventing, detecting and combating the manipulation of sports competitions, focus on strengthening integrity in sport.
