A team of experts from the Council of Europe Monitoring Group of the Anti-Doping Convention (T-DO) held meetings with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in Montreal, Canada, from 16 to 18 October 2023. The meetings encompassed key anti-doping aspects, spanning from scientific advancements to compliance oversight and educational challenges.
Exchanges were held on the upcoming revision of the Code and international standards scheduled for 2027 and the intention of the Council of Europe to meaningfully contribute to this process. The crucial role of cooperation in the educational and scientifical fields was highlighted.
The meeting also addressed compliance issues related to States parties to the Anti-Doping Convention. Particular emphasis was placed on the evaluation visits conducted by the Council of Europe, including those to Belgium, France and Hungary, as well as WADA's Compliance Monitoring Programs.
This cooperation between WADA and the Council of Europe illustrates our ongoing commitment to maintaining a level playing field and promoting clean sport.
