The Human Rights Education for Youth (HEY) course “Towards responsible, safe, inclusive and ethical sport” was officially launched during the North-South Dialogues 2025, and the call for applications is now open. To apply, please fill in the online form by 15 June. The first edition of the course will be held in French from 30 June to 27 July 2025.

The HEY programme targets young people (18-30 years old) from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. It aims to improve their knowledge and understanding of European and international legal frameworks for human rights, ultimately strengthening their capacity to act towards better human rights protection in Europe and beyond.

Participants who successfully complete the tutored online course will have the possibility to become certified HEY tutors by applying for Trainings of Tutors (ToT). This will allow them to implement cascade HEY courses in their regions or countries. In 2025, two ToT are planned, in June and September, in the framework of the Summer Youth Universities organised by the Council of Europe’s North-South Centre (NSC).

The HEY course “Towards responsible, safe, inclusive and ethical sport” was developed by the NSC in collaboration with the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), the African Union Sports Council and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). Participants will analyse human rights frameworks related to ethical, safe and inclusive sport; explore the sport ecosystem’s stakeholders, structure and governance at national and international levels; and discover emerging issues in the sports world, with a particular focus on sport integrity.
