Summary of the project: The Alley Athletics is a non-profit professional track and field club. The club was founded as a social project aiming to empower girls and boys by meaningful professional athletic activity. The Alley Club is a programme for girls and boys who live in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. The club is made up of 6 groups dispatched in 3 cities and involving 10-20 year old girls and boys, practicing sprints, jumps, throws and middle-long distance running. The Alley Club focuses on engaging mostly girls in athletics activity, because their accessibility to athletic programmes is lower due to social norms regarding women in sports. During the last 5 years the club has become Israel's largest authentic athletics club. During that time the kids have trained together on a daily basis, they have travelled together to practice, training camps and track meets, and have become a proud large family – the Alley Family. The incredible commitment and partnership among the members of the team turn every individual success into a group success shared by all members of the team. International successes were just a question of time. During the last three seasons, Alley Kids represented Israel in several championships including, Europe and world championships. Any Israel formal delegation to youth competitions during the last year includes Alley athletes, sometimes even the vast majority of it.
