The Government of Italy has made a voluntary contribution of EUR 10 000 to the Council of Europe action on cybercrime through the Octopus Project, in particular for the international conference dedicated to the Opening for signature of the Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime, to take place in Strasbourg between 12-13 May 2022.

The agreement was signed by Ambassador Michele Giacomelli, Permanent Representative of Italy to the Council of Europe and Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General, in the framework of the Italian Presidency to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Italy has been a Party to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime since 2008, being one of the 66 countries worldwide to have joined the Convention on Cybercrime thus far.
