Retour CyberSouth: Judicial training on e-evidence in Lebanon

Beirut, Lebanon ,

From 27–30 September 2022, the CyberSouth joint project of the Council of Europe and the European Union partnered with the EU – ACT project “Advance Counter Terrorism for Lebanon Security” to organise a training course on electronic evidence for prosecutors and judges, in Beirut, Lebanon.

The objective of the course was to enhance magistrates’ capacities to handle e-evidence as well as their skills to train others on the subject.

During the 4-day event the trainees took part in a mock trail exercise and were requested to identify modalities for handling e-evidence, present it in court and draft a judicial decision on the case.

With this course, CyberSouth concluded the educational activities for the judiciary in Lebanon. Further actions will focus on the finalisation of the national training materials to enable national trainers to deliver courses on cybercrime and e-evidence to their peers.

The aim is to integrate such courses and materials into the national training curricula for the judiciary.
