The conference Joining forces: applying the cybercrime frame to digital violence against women took place on 6th of December 2022 in Strasbourg, France, gathering experts from not only from EU bodies, such as Council of Europe, United Nations, GREVIO, but also from private sector - Stop Fisha, B.a.b.e. This event, organised jointly by the Violence against Women Division and the Cybercrime Division of the Council of Europe through Octopus project together with the Icelandic Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, shed light on the digital dimension of violence against women by presenting legal instruments from the cybercrime field as well as from the violence against women field and their impact on the development of policies and promising practices related to the prevention, protection from and prosecution of such violence.

The event focused debates on two main areas – Linking the fight against cybercrime and the digital dimension of violence against women: the role of international treaty bodies and Connecting the dots between cybercrime and violence against women on the ground: experiences of professionals from Europe and beyond. The iPROCEEDS-2 project facilitated the participation of a public prosecutor from North Macedonia as one of the panellists in the second panel of the conference.

The iPROCEEDS-2 and Octopus projects will continue to support countries from their respective regions to strengthen their legal frameworks, build their domestic capacity and engage in the international cooperation necessary to effectively combat online crime against women, in line with the provisions of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and Istanbul Convention on violence against women.
