Lisbon Forum in 2019

Lisbon Forum in 2019

On December 9th and 10th, speakers from around the world will gather in Lisbon and online to discuss about the urgent necessity to support intercultural dialogue in the era of the infodemic, to counter mis-information, dis-information and hate speech.

Despite the opportunities generated by information and communication technologies, the infodemic creates major social, economic, and political consequences that contribute to perpetuating the cycle of inequalities and discourage the cooperation necessary to face global challenges together. This observation has led the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe to question our relationship with information through the Lisbon Forum this year.

The Lisbon Forum will engage in a rich reflection through a platform for dialogue between different stakeholders, involving, among others, experts, international organisations, policymakers, and activists. This hybrid (online and offline) debate will highlight intercultural dialogue as an effective way to protect human rights, global solidarity, and social justice online and offline.

Deadline for registration : 5 December.
