North-South Centre Global Education Network

The Global Education Network Annual Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia (10-11 April 2025).
The North-South Centre's Global Education Network supports the implementation of the Global Education activities. The network encompasses key national level stakeholders, who want to share Global Education strategies and practices.
The network builds its force on its diversity, enabling peer and intercultural learning between formal and non-formal educators, policy makers and Civil Society Organisations.
Each member acts as the North-South Centre’s implementing partners for the realisation of the Global Development Education regional seminars and follow-up meetings, the eLearning and residential training activities and pedagogical resources. They are also responsible to promote, at national level, the Global Education Week.
Held in the first semester of the year, the Global Education Network (GEN) Annual Meeting acts as a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning among national coordinators of the Global Education Network, gathering representatives of civil society organisations and public authorities from over 40 countries.
This event is organised in the framework of iLEGEND III: Intercultural Learning Exchange through Global Education, Networking and Dialogue (2022-2026), a joint programme co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
The GEN Annual Meeting serves as a key opportunity to reflect on progress made, share successful practices, and deepen partnerships to advance Global Education and sustainable development at the national level.
The GEN Annual Meeting aims to:
- Bring together and strengthen connections among GEN National Coordinators
- Reflect on Global Education, share best practices and explore recent developments
- Support the development of key competences for promoting Global Education
- Explore and promote potential joint initiatives and partnerships among GEN members
- Discuss plans and priorities for the Global Education Week
Designed with a non-formal learning methodology, the GEN Annual Meeting encourages active participation and experiential learning. Through collaborative workshops, group discussions, and the facilitation of external experts, participants explore new ideas, share experience, and co-create solutions.
The Global Education Network held its first meeting in Lisbon in 2000.
Here you can find a list of the upcoming activities of the Global Education Network.
The North-South Centre's Global Education Network met for the first time in Lisbon, in 2000. It liaises and interacts with the North-South Centre Global Education Programme all-year round for the promotion of global education and meets annually to assess the progress made.
