The 2023 North-South Prize of the Council of Europe rewards two outstanding players in human rights.

The North-South Prize of the Council of Europe is awarded to Ms. Amina Bouayach and to the Global Campus of Human Rights for their notable contributions to the defense and promotion of human rights.

Ms. Amina Bouayach was selected for her work in advancing human rights, gender equality and the prevention of torture at national level and in the African continent. The Jury praises Ms. Bouayach’s political involvement in the abolition of death penalty and for her efforts in strengthening civil society structures in the Mediterranean region and North-South cooperation based on shared democratic values.

The Global Campus of Human Rights supports universal Human Rights and democracy, providing high-quality and accessible education. The Campus fosters dialogue between the North and the South, within a network of scholars, students, lawyers and experts.

The date of the ceremony will be announced at a later stage.
