03.04.12 - At the initiative of the National Committee of
Support for Motherhood and Childhood and its President, Mrs Svetlana Orlova,
the Council of Europe’s ONE in FIVE Campaign to stop sexual violence against children was launched in Moscow in the presence of
the Council of Europe's Deputy Secretary General Mrs Maud de Boer-Buquicchio.
The Russian media (RIA Novosti, Moskovskiy Komsomolets,
Rossiyskaya Gazeta, IA Regnum, Itar Tass, Rosbalt, Izvestya) all covered the launch which took place on the occasion of a parliamentary
debate on the national action plan for protecting children in Russia. During the debate, the authorities were also urged to accede to
the Council of Europe’s Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention).
Several activities have been planned for the ONE in FIVE Campaign including conducting promotional workshops and round tables, regional
conferences on implementing the Lanzarote Convention, and inter-regional educational workshops for school and pre-school teachers, etc.
