18.01.2012 – In the
framework of the Council of Europe ONE in FIVE Campaign,
Mr Michail Katrinis, contact parliamentarian for Greece,
continuing the constant effort to stop children’s sexual
abuse, participated as a keynote speaker to the fourth
open event organized by the Greek Delegation to PACE and
the Hellenic Institute for Child Protection, at Chalkida,
on Monday, January 12.
At the event which was attended by representatives of
local and regional authorities and local academic
community, educational community and parents'
associations, intervened, inter alia, the MP, Mrs
Ourania Papadaki-Papandreou, the Deputy Ombudsman for
Children’s Rights, Mr Georgios Moschos, the Director of
Mental Health and Social Welfare of the Hellenic
Institute of Child Health, Mr George Nikolaidis and
other representatives of the regional administration and
NGOs.
As Mr Katrinis noted: “We continue our efforts with the
same fervor, so that the children's world remain […]
without violations or bad interventions that leave their
mark for life. We believe that the Council of Europe
Campaign which aims to raise awareness and mobilize the
authorities and the civil community in preventing and
protecting children from any kind of sexual violation
and exploitation will be a priority for all European
societies. Our country, Greece, is among the first who,
since 2010, supported this effort and continues with the
assistance of the NGOs, the civil society, the Church,
the scientific community and professional networks”.
