MedSPAD Committee presents its report at Lisbon Addiction

MedSPAD is the Mediterranean School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs. This project is carried out within MedNET, the Pompidou Group’s Cooperation Network in the Mediterranean Region on Drugs and Drug Addiction.

During the Lisbon conference, the MedSPAD committee will present a report on the prevalence of the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs”.

It follows the first report in nine countries in the Mediterranean region in 2015 “A first glance of the situation in the Mediterranean region in relation to the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and drug use among adolescents”.

In this second report, twelve countries provide prevalence estimates and the respective confidence intervals for the use of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and medication with and without a medical prescription.

Six of the countries, i.e. Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Malta and Portugal, border the northern rim of the Mediterranean whereas the other six countries, namely, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia border the southern rim of the Mediterranean.
