Our Organisation

The Pompidou Group’s work is organised on different levels:

 The work programme

The work is conducted in four-year cycles between Ministerial Conferences, at which the objectives for the next work programme are adopted.

The work programme specifies the activities that will be carried out over a four-year period. The plans for activity implementation are adopted annually by the Permanent Correspondents. In addition, the Permanent Correspondents may adopt activities on an ad hoc basis whenever necessary. This flexibility enables the Pompidou Group to react to emerging issues in a fast-evolving policy field.

 Our budget

The Pompidou Group budget is adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, in its composition restricted to the member states of the Pompidou Group, and managed under the financial rules and regulations of the Council of Europe. Besides their contribution to the general budget, participating countries can also make voluntary contributions to any specific activities that interest them.

 Our partners

The Pompidou Group pays special attention to creating synergies and multiplying efforts in complementarity with other regional/international organisations and producing added value for strengthening human rights in drug policies. To this end, the Group works closely with numerous international organisations and agencies active in the drug policy field.

 The secretariat

Day-to-day implementation of Pompidou Group activities is supported by the secretariat, headed by the Executive Secretary and based in Strasbourg, France.
