Continuing the Work on Advancing Workplace Inclusion: Exploring the Economic Case for LGBTIQ Equality in Local Communities

Following a first workshop that focussed on the role of municipalities in turning available European anti-discrimination and workplace inclusion standards into local practice, today, the SOGIESC Unit of the Council of Europe and the European Pride Business Network (EPBN) will be holding the second webinar in their series for municipalities. It will explore the economic case for LGBTIQ equality in local communities presenting data-driven insights and actionable strategies for European municipal leaders.

The session explores the relationship between LGBTIQ inclusion and local economic performance. Municipalities influence the conditions in which people live and work. Their policies and public leadership can affect whether a city is perceived as a place where people can build a career, establish a business, invest and participate fully in community life.

During the 90-minute session, speakers and participants will connect evidence on the economic case for LGBTIQ inclusion with practical choices available to local authorities.

This collaboration is part of the EU/CoE joint project “Combating Anti-LGBTIQ Violence and Hate Speech, and Strengthening Awareness and Fact-based Narratives about LGBTIQ People.”
