Chisinau, Moldova ,

Criminal justice authorities, policy makers, cybersecurity experts and Internet service providers of Moldova have been engaged in discussions on legal and practical aspects of cooperation between the law enforcement and Internet service providers on 26-27 February 2018 in Chisinau.

Organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova with support of the Cybercrime@EAP (PGG 2018) project, implemented by the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe, the meeting served as forum of discussion between the criminal justice authorities and the Internet industry of Moldova. The discussion centered on the subjects of effective cooperation between the state and the private sector for facilitating application of specialized procedural powers provided by the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, planned amendments to criminal procedure legislation, and defining possible principles of cooperation agreement between the parties to facilitate public-private cooperation on cybercrime and electronic evidence.

Given the positive feedback from all counterparts, the Council of Europe will be seeking new ways to sustain and expand this dialogue in the future, with support of capacity building efforts of the Cybercrime Programme Office.
