Joint Second Regional Cybercrime Cooperation Exercise currently in progress in Chisinau

A joint effort between the Cybercrime@EAP 2018 and GLACY+ projects of the Council of Europe, the Second Regional Cybercrime Cooperation Exercise is currently in progress in Chisinau, Moldova. From 27 to 30 March 2018, up to 60 participants from the Eastern Partnership region and countries such as Ghana, Mauritius, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Tonga are working to solve the cyber incident scenario in three professional community teams, corresponding to law enforcement, CSIRTs and Internet service providers.

The event features a focus on communication protocols and practices in case of cyber incidents and cybercrime investigations. The goal of the exercise is to demonstrate the need for public-private partnerships in cybercrime and cyber-security in order to get access to data held by private companies, and to encourage the use of common approaches and methods for processing electronic evidence in both cybersecurity incident handling and criminal/financial investigations on the basis of internationally accepted standards, such as the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime.

The exercise is held in cooperation and with support of the National Computer Emergency Response Team of Romania (CERT-RO) and of the Cyber Security Center within Center of Special Telecommunications (CERT-GOV-MD).
