The CyberSouth+ project, a joint action of the European Union and of the Council of Europe, supported the Egyptian Ministry of Justice in the organisation of a training on investigating online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) in Cairo, Egypt, on 27 and 28 May 2025.
Designed to be interactive and dynamic, the training was attended by prosecutors and judges, as well as by representatives of law enforcement agencies. The participants were engaged in a practical case scenario that allowed them to discuss practical, life-like aspects of investigating OCSEA cases. Topics of the training included the reporting of OCSEA cases, measures to be taken by the first responders, international legal standards, cooperation with national and international service providers, investigation techniques and requirements for conducting victims’ interviews, etc.
This training is the first national activity organised in Egypt by the CyberSouth+ project, following up on the interest expressed by project priority countries at the Regional Workshop on OCSEA Reporting and Follow-Up, held in Rome on 28-29 November 2024.
The CyberSouth+ project will continue to support the enhancement of capacities of the judicial and law enforcement sectors in Egypt through capacity building activities organised at national, regional or international levels.
