"Justice and Environmental Protection" conference
The European Day of Justice, which is customarily celebrated in October across the Council of Europe member states, was also celebrated in Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Justice and Environmental Protection" was the theme of a key event marking the European Day of Justice, which was hosted by the Trebinje Basic Court on 29 October 2024. Alongside the host court, the event was co-organized by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the representatives of the Secretariat of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEPEJ).
Two panels were held as part of the event. "The Right to a Healthy Environment" was the theme of the first panel intended for the legal community and attended by the representatives of the judiciary, the executive and legislative branches, international organizations, civil society organizations, and the media. The target audience of the second panel "Achieving Justice in the Court" were secondary school students, students of the Law School and non-governmental organizations.
The panelists at the first lecture and panel discussion for the legal community were Fatima Mrdovic, judge of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Svjetlana Milisic Velickovski, judge of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Midhat Izmirlija, assistant professor at the Law School, University of Sarajevo.
The panelists at the second informative session for students were Milosav Pikula, judge of the Trebinje District Court, Enes Sehic, representative of the Secretariat of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEPEJ) and Milena Rupar, adviser-psychologist in the Trebinje District Court.
Panel discussion on the topic: "Minors as victims of violence"
Panel discussion will be organized in Ethno village “Čardaci”, Vitez and will bring together representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of B&H, courts, prosecutor's office, ministries, centers for social work and mental health, police officers, governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the media and many others.
The aim of the Panel discussion is to talk more broadly about minors as victims of violence, but also to draw conclusions in order to improve and systematically solve the problem.

- President of the Municipal Court in Travnik, Goran Dujić;
Panel discussion will be moderated by Azra Lendo, spokesperson of the Cantonal Court in Novi Travnik.
The media will also be invited to this event.
Trial simulation
High school students and law students will attend a simulation of a plea hearing organized by employees of the Cantonal Court in Novi Travnik.
Court Open Day
Free access to the court, information about the work of the court and lectures for high school students as well as for law students.
High school students and law students will have the opportunity to talk to the President of the Cantonal Court in Novi Travnik, Davor Kelava, as well as other judges, to get acquainted with the jurisdiction of the court, but also to ask questions and communicate with the judges.
