The Junior edition of the Crystal Scales of Justice Prize is organised every two years in partnership with the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management at the University of Strasbourg and offers law faculty’s students from Council of Europe member States or from observer States to the CEPEJ the opportunity to participate in the Council of Europe’s activities in the field of justice.

This competition complements the European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize, which has been in existence since 2005 and recognises innovative judicial practices, by inviting students to defend, through a written submission and an oral presentation, one of the winning projects from the Balance de Cristal competition. Students will notably be required to carry out legal analysis as well as research, particularly regarding the potential implementation of the initiative in other contexts or countries.

The CEPEJ has awarded Junior European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize to the students from the University of Oxford.

The jury for the fourth edition of the Junior European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize met on 19 May and awarded the prize to the team from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), led by Matheus Mendes (link to the project), which presented the Belgian project that had been awarded at the CEPEJ’s 2025 Crystal Scales of Justice Prize, entitled ‘Support Centre for Conservatorship’. 
The jury also decided to award a special mention to a team from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana (Albania) (summary,analysis and implementation), which presented the Spanish project entitled ‘Hyper-automation of Order for Payment Procedures in Justice’.
