The CEPEJ has awarded Junior European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize,congratulations to the students at the University of Oxford!

The jury for the fourth edition of the Junior European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize met on 19 May and awarded the prize to the team from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), led by Matheus Mendes (link to the project), which presented the Belgian project that had been awarded at the CEPEJ’s 2025 Balance de Cristal Prize, entitled ‘Support Centre for Conservatorship’
The jury also decided to award a special mention to a team from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana (Albania) (summary,analysis and implementation), which presented the Spanish project entitled ‘Hyper-automation of Order for Payment Procedures in Justice’.

The jury was composed by :

  • Maria Guilianna Civinini, Judge, former president of Pisa Tribunal (Italy), President of the Jury
  • Svjetlana Milisic Velickovski, Judge at the Supreme Court (Bosnia and Herzegovina),
  • Karim Salem, Legal expert and CEPEJ expert (Egypt),
  • Christos Giannopoulos, Maître de conférences at the Faculty of Law of Strasbourg (France),
  • Séverine Menétrey, Professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium),

The Junior European Crystal Scales of Justice Prize complements the Crystal Scales of Justice Prize, a European prize for innovative practices that contribute to the efficiency and quality of justice. After compiling a dossier of legal research and analysis highlighting the innovative aspects of one of the winning projects from the CEPEJ’s Crystal Scales of Justice Prize and examining its potential application in a different context, the shortlisted teams were invited to present their dossiers orally to the jury via videoconference.
