The Committee of Ministers makes a positive assessment of the Lisbon ministerial conference

On 22 February, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe endorsed the positive assessment of the Lisbon ministerial conference made by its Rapporteur Group on Social and Health Issues (GR-SOC) on 7 February. On that occasion, the Rapporteur Group held an exchange of views with the Executive Secretary of the Pompidou Group in which satisfaction was expressed on the content, participation and results of the ministerial conference.

Based on this report, the Committee of Ministers took the following decisions:

The Deputies

1.         took note of the Secretary General’s report on the 18th Ministerial Conference of the Pompidou Group (Lisbon, 13-14 December 2022), as it appears in the document ;

2.         praised the Group’s achievements under the Portuguese Presidency and Polish Vice-Presidency (2019-2022), in particular the accession of three new members (Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine) and the adoption of the revised statute;

3.         congratulated Italy and Switzerland for their election as new Presidency and Vice-Presidency for the next three year period;

4.         entrusted the Group to successfully implement the road map contained in the Lisbon Declaration and its related 2023-2025 work programme.
