On 18 February 2021, the Secretariat of the World Forum for Democracy, in collaboration with the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement, organised a Forum Talk on the topic “It’s not just about the weather: the impact of climate change on natural disasters” which gathered representatives of Specialised Centres of the Agreement such as Mr Demetris Christou (BeSafeNet Centre, Cyprus), Mr Johann Goldammer (GFMC Centre, Germany), Mr Anton Micallef (IcoD Centre, Malta) and Mr Ferruccio Ferrigni (LoKSAND initiative, Italy).

The speakers addressed questions related to the consequences of climate change on natural disasters and proposed workable solutions to mitigate those impacts.

The event was held in the framework of the Council of Europe World Forum for Democracy 2021 virtual campaign “12 months, 1 question” which, in February, is focusing on the theme “Disasters, displacement and climate change”.
