On the request and in cooperation with the authorities of Georgia, the CyberEast project has started training financial crime investigators in the country. The First Responders training is organized by LEPL Academy of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia with support of the CyberEast project and is taking place in Batumi, Georgia between 3 to 7 February 2020.

Training materials for this five-day course were prepared in close coordination with the Academy and tailored to the Georgian context, with more interactive elements added on request of the target group representatives. Experts from the UK and Netherlands are leading this course, designed to introduce the concepts of cybercrime and electronic evidence investigations and forensic to staff primarily dealing with financial fraud investigations. The last part of the course is an attempt to bring together cybercrime and financial investigation by focusing on crime proceeds online.

The course is a start of series of training activities for the Georgian investigative agencies which aim at eventual transfer of knowledge and localized materials to the Georgian counterparts, who will integrate this course into the standard curriculum for investigators’ training.
