GLACY+: ECTEG Course on Live Data Forensics delivered by INTERPOL in the Philippines

In the framework of the agreement between ECTEG and the C-PROC office, which foresees the delivery of ECTEG courses and materials to specialized Law Enforcement officers of the GLACY+ priority countries, a course on Live Data Forensics was organized in the Philippines and delivered by INTERPOL, in its capacity of implementing partner of the GLACY+ Project.

In this training, the participants had the opportunity to learn the concepts of LDF and various considerations when interacting with running systems at the search and seizure scene.

The course had three major parts, traditional Live Responses on Live Computers, legal considerations, acquiring volatile and non-volatile data from live systems, and analysing the RAM contents such as network status, malicious executables, and finding possible encryption passwords. Knowledge and skills were shared and the best practices were discussed to minimise the system integrity.

INTERPOL, two of its strategic partners - Cyber Defense Institute (CDI) and Trend Micro - and the South Korean Police Investigation Academy have participated in the team of instructors.

Philippines acceded to the Budapest Convention in March 2018, as the first country in South East Asia and third in Asia, after Japan and Sri Lanka.
