Steven Masada

Steven Masada serves as Assistant General Counsel and Director of Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit (DCU), a global team of lawyers, investigators, and analysts that lead Microsoft’s fight against cybercrime and cyber threats to protect customers and the broader online ecosystem.  The DCU leverages Microsoft Threat Intelligence and security expertise to disrupt malicious threat actors through strategic partnerships, intelligence sharing and criminal referrals, and affirmative civil litigation targeting the tools and technical infrastructure used facilitate cyberattacks. 

Steven previously served on Microsoft’s Law Enforcement & National Security (LENS) team where he advised on legal, policy, and regulatory matters related to government surveillance and data access.  Before joining Microsoft, Steven spent 12+ years with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Washington, Seattle office, where he focused on cybercrime and cyber-enabled threats.  Before DOJ, Steven served as a judicial law clerk and as a commercial litigator at a private law firm.
