Jorge Espina has been a member of the Public Prosecutor’s Office since 1994 and is specialised in the field of international cooperation and cybercrime.
He has worked for the European Commission (as a Resident Pre-Accession Advisor in an Anti-Corruption Twinning in the Slovak Republic between 2001 and 2003, and as a Seconded National Expert in DG Justice of the European Commission in Brussels between 2005 and 2006) as well as as as a short-term international expert on various projects.
He has worked at the Spanish General Prosecutor’s Office in the International Section of the Technical Secretariat (2006-2011), the International Cooperation Unit (2011-2015) and the Cybercrime Unit (since 2026).
In 2015 he joined Eurojust as Seconded National Expert, being appointed Assistant to the National Member of Spain in 2017, and Deputy National Member in 2020. At Eurojust, he was a member of the Cybercrime Team (which he chaired between 2021 and 2024) of the Judicial Cooperation Instruments Team (which he chaired between 2025 and 2026).
He has been a contact point for the European Judicial Network since 2010, and was also a contact point for IberRed between 2007 and 2015.
Since its establishment in 2012, it has been part of the European Commission Expert Group on EU Criminal Policy.
He has made numerous contributions in both national and international publications on various legal issues (mainly related to international cooperation and cybercrime) and has extensive experience as a speaker for various academic and official institutions, Spanish and the rest of Europe.
