Ireland makes a voluntary contribution

The government of Ireland has made a voluntary contribution of €80,000 to support the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022 and the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2021.

The Action Plans aim to accompany Armenia and Ukraine in their efforts to bring legislation, institutions and practice further into line with European standards in the areas of human rights, the rule of law and democracy and, through this, to support them in meeting their obligations as a Council of Europe member state.

Ireland also contributed €10,000 towards the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs from corrupt practices at the municipal level in the Russian Federation (PRECOP, phase 2).

The agreements were signed on 15 July 2019 by Ambassador Keith McBean, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the Council of Europe, and by Mrs Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, Deputy Secretary General.
