Back President of Armenia received the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan

On 11 June 2015, President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, received Natalia Voutova, the newly-appointed Head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan.

The Armenian president congratulated Ms Voutova on her appointment and wished her success. Stressing the unique role of the CoE in the European architecture, President Sargsyan noted that Armenia is keen on promoting cooperation with all CoE institutions.

According to the President, the CoE standards provide effective guidelines for Armenia and it has achieved some results as a CoE member state which strives to fulfill its membership obligations.

The Armenian President greatly appreciated the CoE support for the ongoing democratic reforms and presented the status of implementation of various reforms, including the process of constitutional amendments which are being carried out in close cooperation with the Venice Commission.

Natalia Voutova underlined that the CoE supports Armenia’s path through reform and democratic consolidation. She also expressed the hope that taking into account the positive results previously achieved through the implementation of the action plan, the new CoE action plan will likewise be implemented successfully.
