Online Seminar on “Respecting democracy, rule of law and human rights in the framework of the COVID-19 sanitary crisis”: experience of the Russian Federation

On 17 July 2020 the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation held an online seminar to discuss Russian experience at federal and regional level with regard to the Council of Europe Secretary General’s Toolkit for member states “Respecting democracy, rule of law and human rights in the framework of the COVID-19 sanitary crisis” .

The keynote speakers at the event will include the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatiana Moskalkova, the Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, Christos Giakomopoulos, and the Director of the Council of Europe Office of the Directorate General of Programmes, Verena Taylor. Five Ombudspersons from Khabarovsky krai, Krasnoyarsky krai, Sverdlovsk, Moscow and Tula regions will share the experience of their regions as regards the respect for Council of Europe core values in times of the pandemic. The meeting will be moderated by the Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation, Petr Sich (programme of the event).

Ombudspersons from other regions of the Russian Federation will participate in the seminar.
