New Joint Programmes between the Council of Europe and the European Union

The European Union and the Council of Europe have concluded four new agreements to implement Joint programmes.

Two of these programmes, with a combined total budget of EUR 2.3 million will focus on strengthening child-friendly justice and on combating anti-LGBTIQ violence and hate speech. They are the result of continued cooperation with the Directorate General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission and are intended for the Council of Europe member States that also hold membership within the European Union. 

Two other multilateral programmes, with a combined total budget of EUR 1.3 million, will support, the promotion of the democratic values through common European Heritage as well as the harmonisation of policies in the field of safety, security and services at sport events in Europe, in line with the standards of the Saint -Denis Convention. They are part of the long-standing co-operation with the Directorate General of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission.

The above programmes will be implemented over the timespans ranging from 12 to 27 months.
